A couple of pics of large drawings done as part of 3D drawing project. Despite my best efforts, the amount of erasing and re-drawing involved left the sheets filthy, and no amount of rubbing out, or Photoshop, could make them look clean.

A bunch of images relating to a week-long project in character creation. I decided to make a cyclops. Finished statue above, a few prelimnary/concept sketches below. The model is papier mache, the drawings are indian ink on white emulsion.

On Saturday 31st May I spent the day holding a stall at Oxfam's 60th birthday fair in Oxford, drawing bespoke monsters for anyone willing to give a small donation. Here's the best of the bunch- first off a couple of large gouache paintings I made at great speed the night before, to catch the eye of passers-by:

And here are a bunch of the monsters I drew. Each one was drawn straight on to a postcard with no preparatory work, and the subjects came entirely from the customers.

All in all a fun day and some interesting pictures. Most of all it was fun to produce a bunch of stuff and immediately get a positive or negative reaction from your target audience.

Various sketches of made up teenage characters, hanging around, looking awkward or loud, doing teenager stuff. I started doing these after finishing a bunch of ink drawings of younger kids. I was sick of what I felt was my lifeless ink line, and also sick of drawing really little people. So I drew some older little people, using cheap coloured crayons. Although they are clearly a little unpolished, I am really happy with the sense of life and liveliness in them.

Images based on a small comic I made as a Christmas card in December 2007. I was happy with neither the drawing nor the story in the original card, but liked the characters so made these little spot illustrations based on a few panels of the comic. All images made spring 2008.

In late 2007 I made a little comic book as a Christmas card for friends and family. Afterwards I was happy with neither the art nor the story but decided to rework some of the images I'd made for my portfolio. Shown here is a new version of the cover of the book, clearly influenced by the old A6 size Beatrix Potter storybooks I grew up with as a child. Spring 2008.
